lamb
Contact us to learn more about when we will have lamb available.
All of our sheep are of the Katahdin breed of hair sheep, which means they don’t grow long, wooly fur and don’t require yearly shearing. They are a meat breed, originating in the U.S. in the early part of the 20th century and are known for their hardiness, self-sufficiency, and resistance to parasite infection. We are trying to select sheep that will be as “hands-off” as possible, being able to lamb out on pasture and to raise young without assistance. Our commitment to pasture farming requires that they also grow large and healthy on a diet of only the diverse mix of grasses, forbs, and legumes nature provides in our pasture. Our sheep eat no grain, ever. That is what grass-fed, grass-finished means.
